I'm an architect by trade, and I can't switch off the habit of looking for the intention behind a thing. The more I looked, the more I found it in how carefully we were made — and that wonder is what I write about now.
Travis Mahoney is a husband, a father, and a licensed architect. He spends his working life chasing a concept before anything gets built — the idea underneath a thing that decides why it turns the way it turns. An architect learns that function flows from intention; that nothing well-made is an accident.
That appetite for design is where his writing began. It trained his eye to look for intention everywhere, and the more he looked, the more he found it in the one place no architect can take credit for: in how carefully we were made. Wired for value. Built for connection. Made with a concept underneath us deeper than anything he will ever draw. That wonder — the conviction that we are designed, not assembled — is the thread through everything he writes.
For over two decades he has volunteered in recovery and discipleship — first in the Cloud-Townsend lineage at Mariners Church, more recently leading a Warrior Notes Fellowship. He spent his twenties trying to prove a worth that was already settled, and most of his thirties learning how badly he had misread the drawing. The books he writes now are the books he needed when he was still climbing — the ones that name the trap, expose the lies under it, and point to the only ground where value was ever going to be found.
He writes from the recovery side of the table, not the pulpit side. He lives in Southern California with his wife and family.
